Do i really understand u?

i still feel the pain years after that incident happened. Everyday, the people will pass by that place where the horrible incident happened, it seems that the destroyers are mocking at the victims by leaving behind an evidence of the terror.... i saw a mother standing there every year after the incident occur, i saw thru her tear stained face to her broken heart- her heart that will never heal becos the ruins will always be there to remind her of the sad fate of her son-her only son.
It turns out that shock itself is a form of denial. The adrenaline pumped into our systems after a trauma anesthetizes us emotionally. In the very beginning, it's almost as if alarm bells go off in your head, you're very nervous, there's this feeling of 'Quickly, let's survive!' whether you get your kids or whether you run for safety in the first few hours. But when the shock wears off a few weeks later, we actually have to metabolize the devastation.
The TV, with its relentless repetition of the event and its painful aftermath, can be an enemy of this process, whereas going down and seeing ground zero for oneself can actually assist it.

I am not a citizen of that country yet when darryl send me an e mail telling me this, i could feel his pain of having to live in this place where he is constantly reminded about this horrible incident that he wishes to forget. I could now really understand why he wishes to leave that place as soon as possible. I can understand now why he gives up a prestigious school to a school far away...I can now understand where his smiles go.....................or do i really??!
